The generalization that I gathered from the responses of the students of the United States was:

many of these students immediately think of all the illegal immigration into their country that happens every year, giving off a negative connotation.
they also look upon immigration into their nation as problem.

The generalization that I gathered from the responses of the students from Costa Rica was:

many of these students also feel negatively about immigration into their nation.
they feel that it is a problem and it creates more poverty.
some consider it a hindrance.
