we all had pretty much the same ideas about this. except the alcohol. i think when i think about adult french people that i do associate them with wine, but when i did this i was more thinking about kids of my age.

I guess we (the American students) did the same thing that the French students did (to some degree) in response to what the Americans are obsessed with.  What I mean is that a lot of us responded that the other was obsessed with food.  It appears that we (each of our groups) could both do with a little research about the other.

Then again, that's what this Cultura program is FOR isn't it?

Ah.  Well... I watched a video at one point that taught French and went a little into french culture.  It mentioned that the french were particular about the way people eat and that there were "proper" ways to eat.  This sort of made me think that the French were obsessed with food and the way it's eaten.

Also, most French foods that I've seen are rather fancy or delicate (for example, les crepes).  I also find French food delicious.

Eating seems like a ceremony in France, there is a set time for it, here we are more grab and go when it comes to food. When I was in France, I had dinner with the family that my brother had done an exchange with and dinner was in course, more like a restaurant.  Here most of the courses are served at the same time, at least at my house and many of my friends houses.
