My greatest worry is...

Mi preocupación más grande es...

being a failure in life.

failing.

failure in life.

not being successful

that i will fail, clowns, being alone.

that I will not meet all my deadlines.

that I will not succeed in the future.

that I won't pick the right career for me

what my future life holds for me.

Discussion

In both the U.S. and Costa Rica, it appears that our greatest worries involve the future. The difference lies in what exactly in the future worries us most. The answers from the U.S. are mostly associated with the fear of failing in the future. Many Costa Ricans' answers revolved around family life in the future.

The U.S. responses were significantly weighed toward success and failure in the future, and the Costa Rican answers were more about money. We concluded that even the 2 "mi futuro" responses were probably related to money. In a country where many people live paycheck to paycheck, the goal is to have a job that covers all the expenses.

Also, it should be noted that most of the best-paying jobs in Costa Rica require English, and is the primary reason that students study at Intercultura.
