You see a mother in a supermarket slap her child.

enfant.

find that disturbing but it's not my business and sometimes a child needs to be slapped
I do nothing
I just watch...
I recoil immediately but then think about my mother appropriately disciplining me.
I think that corporal punishment can be justified to some extent, but it is not ok in public. I would be very uncomfortable and probably ack like nothing happened and go about my business.
I will be concerned
I will do nothing first but if the mother continues, I will try to speak to her and stop her.
I would be disappointed but not do anything
I would be shocked at first but then probably just keep on walking.
I would laugh hysterically. The kid deserved probably deserved it.
I would laugh.
I would make a face and continue my shopping.
I would not do anything. I would find it pitiful and discouraging.
I would probably wince.
I would think this is unnecessary and she should have kept her child's behavior in line before the child acted badly enough to warrant a slap.
I would turn the other way.
I'm not sure what I would do, but I wouldn't approve.
O well, some kids are bad, but still she should at least do it in private
Possibly nothing. Maybe the child deserves it.
Say nothing, not my business

ça me fait rigoler

Discussion

françaises, l'enfant l'a probablemnt mérité.

propre enfant.

Yang,
I think you're right. Each parent has the right to raise his children
however he pleases. I don't see anything wrong with a parent slapping
his child if he has done something wrong. Whan I was a little kid, my
mother always threatened to whip to me and my brothers with a belt. She
never actually hit us with the belt, but she did spank us all the time.
I think her system worked really well. I was afraid of my mother up
until the age of 6. After that, her spankings didn't hurt anymore, and
she that's when she stopped. She quickly changed her strategy and
punished us by taking away our Nintendo games, or by forcing us to wash
dishes. She was also good at manipulating us to do chores around the
house. I admire her skills. I think she's a great mother. What do you
guys think? Is it okay to punish your child physically? Or do you think
that this kind of punishment should be termed as "abuse"?

I
agree with Claire that if a mother is going to slap her child, she
should do it when the child does something bad instead of waiting. It
is difficult for him to understand the reasons for the punishment
several hours later. But I don't agree that slaps or any type of
physical punishment should be part of a child's upbringing. Violence,
in my opinion, can never resolve any problem. Also, if a child is
scared of his mother, it's likely that he won't trust her in the future
when he does something bad. As a result, he might not always feel
comfortable telling the truth to his parents.
