En observant les differentes réponses des éléves americains on constate que pour eux les études ont une place importante dans leur vie; alors que pour les français un bon éléve doit pouvoir savoir travailler tout en sachant s'amuser pour se detendre.
The French responses and the American responses were pretty similar, but it seemed the French put more emphasis on a balanced student; someone who knows how to study and work hard, and yet be able to cut loose and party. Is this true? Do the French think that the best type of student is balanced, or the best type of student just studies?
The French and English responses were very similar on this topic. However, it seems like the French put more emphasis on partying and having fun. I think that the American idea of a good student is someone dedicated to his/her school work and who studies a lot. We tend to view things like partying very much as detracting from our school work and thus making you a bad student.
Do the French have some schools that are specifically known as either party schools or very serious schools? In the US, especially in public universities there as are some schools that are definitely known to be party schools. Also, I don't really understand what "ne redouble pas sans tricher" means, could you try to explain this to me?
I get the feeling that student in America is an extension of work and student in France is an extension of life. There were a lot of the same things on both sides, but I have to say that if you overall generalize the non-work rellated part of the groups, the French leaned more toward personal life and the Americans more toward personal learning and understanding.
It could also have something to do with the way we do work too; because this is for a class we may be moer apt to not write certain things that the French may just write anyway. Unlikely, but a possibility.
bonjour Justin, personnellement je pence que la différence entre américains et français et peu étre dû à la vie professionnelle qui arrive très rapidement aux USA, du fait du cout des études et des associations entre entreprises et universitées. De ce fait les étudiants américains ont une grandes responsabilité sur les épaules. Aussi en france le systéme est beaucoup moins strict sur le point de vu de l'alcool, cela est peu étre dû aux "traditions". En france nous essayons de lié études sérieuses et fêtes le week-end, ou même le jeudi, pour le "jeudi étudiant", en france le jeudi est le rendez vous des étudiants pour décompresser tous ensemble. Pour conclure je pence que se sont toutes ces différentes choses qui font que les Français et les Americains n'ont pas le même point de vu sur le sujet.
