I found it interesting that although most of the English responses had a positive view on suburbs, most of the Italian responses had a negative view. The most common response on the Italian side had more to do with class and class relations than the American side. Many of the English responses mentioned the safety of suburbs, but that didn't seem the case on the Italian side. Finally, the view of American suburbs seems to be that they are rich, while Italian suburbs may be in poverty. This illustrates the idea of a suburb between the US and Italy: we view suburbs as places wealthy people move to in order to escape the city, but perhaps it is the opposite in Italy.

Sono perfettamente d' accordo con te. La differenza sostanziale tra le vostre e le nostre risposte ci porta a capire la concezione del tutto divesa che i nostri Paesi hanno di periferia. Mentre da voi è vista come un luogo calmo e residenziale, classificato quindi positivamente, da noi la povertà e il disagio sono quello che emerge dalle risposte e la sicurezza è sicuramente ciò che più manca.

vivere in periferia non è sicuramente un fatto positivo in Italia.la periferia è associata alla povertà e al degrado.le persone abitano spesso in case popolari.c'è molta criminalità perchè non ci sono controlli e manca qualsiasi tipo di servizio. vivere in città è decisamente più confortevole e sicuro.
