It seems that French and American citizens just don't have the same state of mind about 'suburbs'. French people massively refered to violence and crime, certainly because most of news linked with suburbs deal with these subject.

But obviously the biggest part of the French suburbs are undoubtedly quiet, 'peaceful' and 'friendly' like Americans could say.
