The things most Americans know about France are probably related to food and tourism. Most people know the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and other things in Paris, and definitely one of the first things people think about when they hear France is fancy food. I don’t think that many people in the US know much about French literature or film.

That it interesting that America is known mainly as a world power and commercial center. Americans in general know France for elegance and culture. This includes food, art, architecture, fashion, and other similar things. Specifically, when Americans think about France, they would often think of Paris and French food, for example.

I think it’s interesting that on the France page, the Americans mentioned Paris many times, but Washington, D.C. was never mentioned on this page. New York was mentioned a couple times, though. Is this representative of what French people know the most about the US? New York has a lot of actors and performers, so maybe it was mentioned because these parts of American culture are more important in France than American politics, which primarily happen in D.C.?

American talks about freedom and democracy a lot. There are also some negative words, such as arrogant. French people most mention “puissance” and “politics”. I think this is because most French people know about America from newspaper and television, so they might know more about American politics and power. It seems that French think America is powerful and important in the world. They talk about the overall figure of America, but American people talk more detailed about themselves.

Yeah, when most Americans think of France they almost always just think of Paris. Even among Americans who have visited France, few of them have been anywhere but Paris.
