Discussion
----Youth is usually associated with carefree , unexperienced ,innocent generation . Young people are considered as versatile, initiative , naive but enthusiastic people , who know how to have a lot of fun , who dream without limits , who are basically happy , and who are full of energy and desire to build a new better world . The attitude of French students is more optimistic . Some of the Americans said that the youth is screwed , which is true for some of the american youth . French are also concerned with some universal problems: unemployment and sida , while Americans seem not to care about that ,although they should . My question is : What is the alcohol limit in France and do young people drink alcohol often in France ? (here you should include beer into the alcohol ,too...) ----
----To the students of Sup'Aero: ----American teenagers tend to want to act older than their own age because of the added independence that they want. It seems to me that in France young people are more relaxed. Do you spend a lot of time with your family or do you spend more time with friends?
----American students generally tend to be more negative in their assertation of youth. Though both parties associated youth with energy and freedom, the french have a more positive outlook. Americans probably see more of the troubles of the youth-drug use, abuse, and violence. This is probably due to the prevalence of trashy television.
------ la jeunesse semble etre une periode plus rose chez les francais et davantage revolue et faite d'epreuves chez les americains
----I noticed that "chomage" was a common answer among the French, but "unemployed" did not even come up once among the Americans. Is "unemployed" an accurate translation of "chomage"? Is it common for French teenagers to seek jobs? I think that in the United States, many high school students have jobs, but that really isn't an issue. Any comments?
----The American responses tended to emphasize the reckless, wild nature of youth, while the French tended to say things like "copains" and "etudiant." Is this a difference in translation, or are the French more tolerant towards behavior Americans associate with generation X?
----I got the impression from the responses that the french students regarded youth as a more peaceful time than the american students. Would you say that youth is more associated with peaceful things rather than dangerous/exciting things as it is in the U.S.?
----Yeah , by the way , I saw that many french students connected the word youth with the word sport . What are the most favourite sports in France ? Did you all enjoy the visit of Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls ?
