Discussion

Can one of the French students help me understand what
does "refaire le monde et a s'avouer l'innavouable"
mean? This is vocabulary question.

I have some questions about the party scene for French
college students.

Your responses to "a good party" seem to mostly suggest
small intimate gatherings among friends. Is it ever the
case that the university or a group in the university
will sponsor a party to which all of the students are
invited? This happens every weekend at Brown. There
are frat houses/social houses that sponsor large
parties that anyone can go to as long as they are
willing to spend about $6 to get in.
Also, I am curious about the drinking scene. How much
would someone have to drink on an average night out? or
does that completely depend on the person? What do
people normally drink? The first thing that I think of
for France is wine. For here (at least in college) I
think of beer and hard liquer.
Here there is somewhat of a culture of "binge drinking"
on college campuses (although by no means is everyone a
part of it). Excessive drinking is viewed as a big
problem by many college administrations because every
year some students die from drinking too much. Is
there a phrase in French that is equivalent to "binge
drinking" (drinking in excess, having many drinks one
after the other). For some reason I would think that
less binge drinking would occur in France because the
drinking age is lower, so people have had access to
alcohol for a longer time...However there are a lot of
responses that describe une bonne soirée as one where
"on ne vomit pas" This makes me think that binge
drinking may also be a problem in France.
Wow...sorry for rambling on for so long. I would just
like to get some discussion going about attitudes
toward alcohol because I think it is something that
affects us all on a regular basis. Also, the laws of
our countries are clearly not the same, insinuating a

exemple whisky coca, vodka orange, malibu orange, soho
